Gary trained as a Quantity Surveyor and completed his Batchelor of Science Degree with Sir Robert McAlpine in 1985.

In 1986, Gary joined The Apollo Group as a junior surveyor, in what was then a small family construction company and over the following twenty-five years grew the business, for it to become one of the UK’s largest Social Housing Contractors. As CEO, Gary led the successive sales of The Apollo Group to Lloyds Development Capital and the Halifax Bank of Scotland, with a combined enterprise value of £560 million. In 2012 The Apollo Group merged with the Keepmoat Group to form one of the leading support services companies in the UK, with an annual turnover in excess of £1 billion.

Gary is currently the CEO of Islandbridge Properties, an international property investment and development company, a member of the Investment Advisory Board of Islandbridge Capital, and the Chairman of Lewis & Scott Retirement Living.
